3 Bedroom House Plans
3 bedroom house plans are some of the most popular ones across the internet, why it’s also a section that we are ever-increasing the size of on our website.
If you’re a small family with one child, this may prove perfect – you and your significant other share the master suite, your child gets their own room and then you have a spare room that can be used as an office, or perhaps as a guest room when your Mother-in-law comes around to visit. These do not have to be huge, and you can easily find 1,200 square foot ones that will accommodate 3 bedrooms and a couple of bathrooms without feeling that you’re lacking space. Because of their flexibility and affordability, they’re the most popular options people go for. However, we also have bigger 2,200 sq ft options.
Besides 3 bedroom options, there are many other features that you could want to consider such as:
|Features to consider|
|4 bedroom||Tiny, with loft||Small ranch|
|2-story||5 bedroom||Small & luxurious|
They also come in a range of different styles including, but not limited to two-story homes or ones with open floor plans. Try playing around with the filters on this page, and we’re sure you will find interesting combinations you didn’t even know existed, which you just may end up unintentionally falling in love with.
1,400 sq ft options
With 1,400 sq ft designs you will find yourself with significantly more space than you will should you choose to go for a 1,000 sq ft instead. With these additional 400 extra sq ft, you could opt to have a whole additional two bedrooms installed in it, and if you are to want to rent it out either immediately when it is built or at a later stage, having additional bedrooms always beats having fewer.
For your convenience, and because most people usually have a square foot range that they are trying to stay within, we have chosen to do the same for this page. When we speak to our users, they will be more likely to say “oh, we need one that has 2 bedrooms and 2 baths in it”, instead of saying that they want 1,400 square feet on the dot. This page is set up to include options up to 250 square feet both smaller and bigger than the specified 1,400.
If you have very specific desires, all you have to do is simply make the range more narrow in the criteria section, and our system will update with the specified criteria.
Open floor designs have a certain appeal to them that more compartmentalized houses simply do not. You do not feel crammed in, you feel like the whole place simply has a flowing motion, why these types of plans aren’t just the modern option, but they’ve basically become the golden standard for many to-be builders, and why so many of such plans land on the list of bestselling plans, no matter if it’s for a single-storey of two-storey place. You can find them in all sorts of different sizes ranging from 1,400 to 1,800 sq ft all the way to your bigger homes being more than 3,000 sq ft.
These open floor spaces create the ability to have relaxed entertaining without the feeling of always having to chase down the rest of the family to see what they’re up to. Many of these plans will have kitchens be core parts of the home, having them structured in ways that invites people in. Have you ever been in a place simply thinking that the kitchen was too small to actually hang out in? That won’t be the issue there.
These options have a sense of space unlike other options such as the more historical homes. By combing living room and kitchen, the transition from one to the next becomes fluid making the place seem bigger than it would for its existing square footage.
Getting an idea of the most common features and characteristics might be something that you’re interested in, or it may just be a small side note that you won’t end up paying too much attention to.
The average square footage of a 3 bedroom house is between 1,800 and 2,500 sq ft.
The average dimension of a 3 bedroom place include 2.5 bath with a median size of 2,000 sq ft.
The average prices for a 2 bedroom house is between $1,000 and $1,400, for the drawings, but you can find many different options with lots of different styles and designs, that are either cheaper or more expensive. They have the characteristics of being great for a growing family with their 2.5 bath.
Most plans made today in fact fall under the Tudor Revival style that was revived in Great Britain from 1890 to 1940, often being characterized by being single-story or two-story, asymmetrical with overhanging second floors, and commonly having decorative brickwork. The smaller homes that would follow would then later turn out to be referred to as the English cottage. Dormers and overhangs are incredibly common with this style, but the exterior finishes are much so what will give your Tudor-style home the right feel, why certain types of siding are also recommended, such as stucco, lapped or shingle.
They will surely turn heads with their elaborate window grids and interesting patterns. While they are commonly relatively big, there are also options that aren’t necessarily the size of a mansion, ranging from 1,400 to 3,000 sq ft, being more appropriate for a lot of families.
English Tudor houses come in many sizes and budgets, so if you’ll look around the site, we’re sure you’ll find the one that matches your family’s needs. There are also versions of this that are more modern than others.
What’s typical for Craftsman-style house is that they usually include a covered front porch, where you and your family can spend some lovely summer nights.
It’s no surprise Americans not only love their wraparound porches, but also the Craftsman style. They’re popular, and they’re all around the country.
While the porch is perhaps the most obvious characteristic of these places, tapered columns, overhanging roof eaves, single dormers, explicit woodwork, beautiful fireplaces and handcrafted stone are all things you get to enjoy if you choose one of these options.
Thesy really started rising in popularity at the turn of the 20th century, and have stayed in the hearts of Americans ever since. British Arts is said to have had a big influence on the style. They stand simpler than Victorian ones, that used to be the golden standard.
The four main types you should know about include the Four Square, Mission Revival, Prairie Style & Bungalow. Most of the Craftsman homes have been filtered into their own individual subcategories, if there is a particular style you’re especially interested in.
It’s clear that Craftsman ones aren’t going anywhere anytime soon, so if you’re concerned about their future resale value, there’s nothing to worry about with such a universally appealing option.
3 bedroom 2 bath
While bigger than what most singles may need, this style offers more flexibility, especially if you’re a young couple hoping to add to the number of current family members. Who knows if someone new decides to pop out some time next year? Having an additional bedroom can be what ensures you aren’t forced to find something bigger when things change. The third bedroom can also be used instead of a guest house, if that Mother-in-law comes around unexpectedly.
Use the various filters on the platform to specify exactly what it is you desire, and if you can’t find it, you can always reach out, and we’re happy to help you.
While some families choose to opt for the 1.5 story, or 3-story homes, the most common option that families choose to go with if they aren’t otherwise constrained by a narrow lot, are the single-story options, because it may often be cheaper to build a bungalow rather than going for something taller. While you may be able to get a different view if you are build towards the sky, not all families have plots of land that are rather small, which is the main reason why someone would build up instead of out.
The advantage to a single-story design are many, but they include having the majestic feel of a bungalow, and they also provide better accessibility than is the case with designs that have stairs in them.
Do you want your ground floor home having 2, 3 or 4 bedrooms?
For ground floor homes with all the bedrooms situated at the same height as the rest of the house, the most common amount of bedrooms are usually 2, 3 or 4, and although you may be able to find other options on this page, those are the ones requested by most of our users, why they’re also the ones that we are the most likely to be significantly be increasing our offering of.
If you are building a house with several stories, have you considered whether you want upstairs bedrooms, or whether you are fine having some of them on the ground floor?
What are your requirements to the master suite?
A lot of families will start looking for plans just to realize that they have very specific needs for the master suite when it comes to either the closet or the bathroom that is attached to it. For families that foresee living in the same house for a long time to come, it is very important that you and your spouse sit down and figure out your exact requirements when it comes to the master suite, whether you are building a single-story or not. Our architects can definitely offer to alter the various bedrooms of the house, but if you are having the floor plan altered, you should know that it is better to do so starting with an option that resembles your end product as much as possible.
Do you want a single or double garage?
On a cold winter day, there is nothing better than knowing you are able to drive all the way into your home through the garage, rather than having to get out on a possibly slippery surface, why the specifications regarding the garage may be of great importance to some families. While this space may be very convenient when it’s cold outside, you shouldn’t forget that it can also serve as a great space to store all the belongings in that you otherwise don’t have convenient storage for.
You may be someone who wants a double garage, or you may be someone who wants none, but it is still an important consideration in choosing the right option, as you are very likely to be living there for years to come.
Do you know that this home will have waterfront? Or are you planning on using it as a guest house? Here are some additional factors to consider.

How big do you want it to be?
The same way there are lots of advantages to having either one garage or several, there is also a very big question regarding how big you want the main house to be, why we are finding that there are a lot of our users in fact coming to the website by first searching for the size of the house, with size being the filter that they are disqualifying designs on the basis of. People wanting to find a more simple option with 3 bedrooms may be looking for a home that ranges from 1,000 square feet (100m2) to 1,200 square feet (120m2) being the most common ones, although we also have a lot of more sophisticated options that are a lot bigger than those dimensions.
Ones that are more geared towards our international users tend to be slightly smaller, why you can also find 3 bedroom options of 800, 900, 1,100, 1,100 and 1,200 square feet, respectively 80m2, 90m2, 100m2, 110m2 and 120m2.
The most common widths and depths of the homes we feature
While these may not be the most sought out houses in general, we have realized that there are some people that have very specific dimensions that they are looking for and the easiest way to address that concern is by using the various filters on our website, whereby you can filter out certain homes by dimensions.
When we add additional homes to this specific page, we will also be adding the specific links, but for people that have very specific dimension requirements, it is often 24 by 60 feet (8×20 meters), 15 by 90 feet (5×30 meters), 15 by 60 feet (5×20 meters), 35 by 90 feet (12×30 meters) and 30 by 60 feet (10×20 meters) that our users are looking for. Are you an architect who has already made a bunch of floor plans that fit those requirements, then we hope that you will reach out to us as we would love to feature those homes on our platform.
If you are a user on the site, you can always choose to filter the results by dimensions, if you have very specific requirements that you are looking for.
Do you have very specific features in mind?
If you are a person who has always dreamed of waking up and enjoying your morning coffee on your own balcony, you may not necessarily be looking for a single-story option, but rather something taller, where you can sit and enjoy the morning sun. It might also be the case that your very specific requirement is you’re looking to build that gourmet kitchen of yours, why you’re looking for something with a sizable space in the middle that can accommodate those wishes.
All these individual requirements are great because it simply means that you already know what it is you are looking for, why you can narrow down your search very quickly rather than having to look through 1000s of different results, and instead only feature the ones that match your criteria already – perhaps you want something Mediterranean.
Are you looking to build a modern beach property?
While you may not be looking to build a single-story home if you are building one that is intended for the beach, we do have a wide variety of options that are just perfect for those wanting to enjoy that nice ocean view from their newly built glory. Several of those options will include very extravagant and modern options where you can enjoy the view from the 3rd floor, and perhaps even have a small outdoor kitchen set up, too.
Since plots of land on the beach are usually very expensive, you may want to narrow your search down to those options that have 9, 15, 18 or 21 feet of front facade, which is the equivalent to 3, 5, 6 or 7 meters which may be appropriate for that modern beach house.
3 bedroom blueprints don’t have to be constructed in the modern farmhouse style, if that’s not what you want. Here’s a subsection of other options that could work well for your family.

Do you want to have one in a specific shape or built in a specific material?
Although you can build designs we sell on this page in almost any type of material that you choose, some of them are better suited to be built in wood, where as other homes may be better suited for other materials. You may also have other wishes such as building an L-shaped, U-shaped or H-shaped home, which we can also help you with.
If you are building that nice encompassing L-shaped home, what would be better than also adding a pool in the middle of it and creating that small piece of paradise that you can call your home?
Whether you want a more simple, and smaller option or you specifically want something with either 2.5 bath or 800 square feet (80m2), we are hoping to be able to find the one of your dreams that matches all the various desires you may have, including if you are looking for for if you are looking for something that will give you the best return on your investment, like a duplex, you want that typical ranch style, or you want 2 master suites. You can always reach out to us with questions.
The 3-bedroom is a great option
The 3-bedroom options that we feature on this page are great for most families. If you and your spouse has either one or two kids, choosing one of the house plans on here may just be what best suits your family. While most of these are decent in size, they will also make sure that you are making a good financial decision when it comes to your building project.
When you don’t have the need for a big 6-bedroom mansion, there is no need to build one as it will just have a lot of disadvantages for your family. The absolute best financial you can make when it comes to building, is to make sure that you don’t go entirely overboard. First of all, you will just end up spending a lot more money in the process if you are building a larger home compared to building one of a more modest size. Every room that needs to be finished will include both electrical work, a paint job, flooring and all the work that goes into making sure that you can live in it. Having one extra room than what you may currently use for storage can be one of those ideas that you end up being very happy you committed to, but if you have 3 or 4 bedrooms that you never use, you will just have spent a lot more money on your building project than you had to.
Rather than spending all that extra money on building, that is money that you could have invested, and which would have grown over time. While most homes will increase in value over time, there are some that are more likely to increase in value than others, and those that end up increasing the most in value are those that are the most desired. In other words, if you have one of the houses that are very attractive to buy for your average family, you will likely be able to earn a lot of money on the sale when you sell in the future. However, since most families won’t actually need one with 6 bedrooms in it, there’s a certain risk that building something of such a magnitude won’t be a wise financial decision.
Besides the additional cost to build a bigger one, there is also a significant cost in terms of the maintenance that will have to be done on a bigger home compared to a smaller one. Suddenly you will have a larger outside area that needs to get cleaned when it gets dirty, and you may also need bigger appliances to compensate for the additional square footage that you aren’t even using. Perhaps that smaller air conditioning unit isn’t capable of powering the 6 bedroom house, whereas it is perfectly capable of heating and cooling the smaller option. If you don’t buy an adequate unit for the house, you will also find yourself having to replace the unit sooner rather than later, why it’s not recommended that you install inadequate appliances. On top of having to buy bigger appliances and paying more for the initial construction, there’s also the continuous cost associated with heating and cooling a home.
While we have both bigger and smaller designs than the ones we feature on this page, the designs on this page do serve a valid purpose for most of the users that come by our platform. If you’re building and want something that is a good investment while still being able to provide your family with the space and features that you need, we’re sure there’s one of these 3 bedroom options that will work perfectly!
